十九大报告指出，中国特色社会主义进入新时代，我国主要社会矛盾已经转化为人民日益增长的美好生活需要和不平衡不充分的发展之间的矛盾。

As socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era, the principal contradiction we face now is that between unbalanced and inadequate development and the people's ever-growing need for a better life. 

十九大还制定了我国从2020年到本世纪中叶的发展路线图：

目标是到本世纪中叶把我国建成富强、民主、文明、和谐、美丽的社会主义现代化强国。

By the middle of the 21st century, the Communist Party of China will develop China into a great modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious and beautiful.

5月，我国首架具有完全自主知识产权的大型喷气式客机C919在上海浦东机场冲上云霄，成功完成首飞任务，圆了国人期盼半个世纪的“飞机梦”。

The C919, China's first domestically designed and built large jetliner, completed its maiden flight in May.

C919的首飞意味着中国将跻身世界上少数能够自主制造大型客机的国家之列。

With the flight, China joins the ranks of the few nations that have developed homegrown large airliners: the US, Russia, Brazil, Canada, the UK, France and Germany.

6月，由中国自主研发的标准动车组“复兴号”在京沪线上正式运营。

Fuxing, China's newest model of the country's high-speed bullet trains, made its debut on the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway line in June.

“复兴号”是第一辆由中国工程师独立设计制造的高铁，时速可达400公里每小时。“复兴号”的投入运行标志着我国铁路设备和技术已经达到了世界领先水平，为中国出口高铁技术、增长国家软实力奠定了基础。

Fuxing, whose name means rejuvenation, is the first bullet train designed and manufactured entirely by Chinese engineers. With a top speed of 400 kph, its launch heralds a new era for the Chinese high-speed railway and lays the foundation for China to export its high-speed technologies.

4月，中国首艘自主建造的新航母在大连下水。001A型航母由中国自行改进研发而成，是中国真正意义上的第一艘国产航空母舰，他的下水是中国航母设计建造历史上里程碑式的事件。

China launched its first domestically designed and built aircraft carrier, the Type 001A ship, in Dalian in April. Putting the carrier into water marks progress in China's efforts to design and build a domestic aircraft carrier.

4月，中共中央、国务院做出在河北省设立雄安新区的决定。雄安新区将对标深圳经济特区和上海浦东新区，作为又一经济引擎，推动京津冀协同发展。

China announced in April that it would establish the Xiongan New Area in Hebei, a new area of national significance furthering similar efforts beyond the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and the Shanghai Pudong New Area. 

雄安新区位于北京西南方向，距首都市中心约100公里，是北京非首都功能疏解集中承载地。

Located about 100 km southwest of downtown Beijing, the new area will help phase out functions from Beijing that are not related to the capital.

在世预赛12强赛主场面对老对手韩国队，中国男足背水一战。此前31次交战仅胜两场，如果无法取胜就将彻底失去进军世界杯的希望。

最终，凭借于大宝的头球，中国队在长沙贺龙体育场数万球迷的助威声中，一比零战胜韩国，保留住了进军俄罗斯世界杯的一线生机，也让球迷们体会到了久违的酣畅淋漓。 

Yu Dabao scored the lone goal at Helong Stadium in Changsha, giving China its second victory over archrival South Korea from 32 matches in a win-or-go-home World Cup qualifier.

在建军90周年之际上映的国产大片《战狼II》以令人惊讶的速度，打破了中国电影票房纪录。

超过50亿的票房将此前的纪录保持者远远甩在身后。在国家实力不断增强，国民自豪感与日俱增的时代，《战狼II》的成功源自其触动了观众心中的家国情怀和中国人的自豪感。

Wolf Warrior II, an action movie, has raked in a record 5 billion yuan ($768.5 million) at the box office since its debut in July. The box-office receipts are a major vote of confidence for domestic productions and also a reflection of the patriotic mood sweeping the country.
